The Pyth DAO said on Oct. 8 that every dollar it receives from Pyth products will go to buying PYTH on the open market, under a standing authorization labeled OP-PIP-136.
The reserve has existed since December 2025. Until this month, each purchase was a separate vote sized at one third of the DAO’s non-PYTH balance. The new rule covers Pyth Pro subscriptions, Listing as a Service, the Data Marketplace, and Pyth Indices, and it also sweeps non-PYTH assets the DAO already holds. The old limits stay: a 5 percent slippage cap, $25,000 per trade, aggregator routing, and a public monthly report.
Pyth said the business reached $11.5 million in annual recurring revenue in September, up 86 percent from the prior quarter. Pyth Indices accounted for $1.81 million of fixed ARR. A 60 percent share of revenue from the products the DAO owns is paid to the DAO, and that entire share now buys PYTH. The first purchases under the new authorization cleared on Sept. 30. The announcement put the reserve at 41 million PYTH and said the public tracker showed 42 million after those buys.
The demand Pyth cited is in real-world-asset perpetuals. Over the past three months, the post said, more than 94 percent of tracked RWA perpetual volume ran on Pyth prices, above $2 trillion. TradeXYZ, Lighter, Kraken, Coinbase, and Phoenix were named among the venues. In September, Kalshi listed Pyth as the sole source agency for the gold and silver perpetuals on its CFTC-registered exchange, and Coinbase named Pyth in an SEC filing for single-name equity perpetuals. Kalshi and Polymarket both use Pyth for up-or-down markets on stocks and commodities.
Fifty indices are live across U.S. equities, metals, oil, foreign exchange, and thematic baskets. September added the first pre-IPO series, for OpenAI and Anthropic. Nasdaq Basic, Nasdaq’s real-time U.S. equity quote product, is distributed on the same marketplace, along with corporate actions such as splits, dividends, and ticker changes. On Solana, the DAO upgraded Pyth Core in place on Aug. 26, so existing program addresses kept working.
Mike Cahill, chief executive of Douro Labs and a core contributor to Pyth, said the DAO putting its whole share into the reserve is “the strongest alignment this network has had.” The people using the data, the people building it, and the people governing it, he said, are pulling on the same rope.
